FC Nantes is on the verge of losing Matthis Abline, its star striker, for a record 35M€. According to Télé Nantes Info, French coaches in the Premier League, including Pierre Sage of Crystal Palace and Régis Le Bris of Sunderland, are very interested in the player. The offers could rise to 35M€ including bonuses, which would make Abline the biggest transfer in FC Nantes history. And yet, the announced figure is surprising, as Nantes is relegated to Ligue 2 and Abline had an irregular 2025-2026 season with only 6 goals in Ligue 1. So, it's hard to imagine Premier League clubs breaking the bank for a striker who has only scored 23 goals in 126 Ligue 1 matches. But Sunderland had already made a 20M€ offer for Abline last summer, and Waldemar Kita was asking for 50 million euros. On the Crystal Palace side, the analysis is the same, especially when compared to one of the big signings of last summer, Yeremy Pino, Spanish international winger. A small comparison in Ligue 1: Olympique Lyonnais has just sold Afonso Moreira for 32 million euros to Bayer Leverkusen. Lyon made a good sale, and it's hard to see FC Nantes doing better with Abline.
